For many buyers relocating to or within the Tri-Valley, the decision often comes down to one question: how do I get to work? Here's a practical breakdown of commute options and considerations across Livermore, Dublin, Pleasanton, Danville, and San Ramon.
Dublin is home to the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station, the end of the line for the Blue Line. For commuters heading into Oakland or San Francisco, this makes Dublin one of the most transit-convenient cities in the Tri-Valley.
Dublin tends to appeal most to commuters who want to walk or drive a short distance to BART and avoid daily freeway driving altogether.
Pleasanton shares the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station and also sits at the junction of I-580 and I-680, making it a strong option for commuters with destinations in multiple directions.
Livermore is a bit further east, which generally means more house for the money — but commute planning looks different here.
San Ramon sits along I-680, north of Dublin, and has become a major employment center in its own right (Bishop Ranch is one of the largest business parks in the East Bay).
Danville is primarily a driving city. It's slightly further from BART than Dublin, Pleasanton, or San Ramon, so most residents commute by car via I-680.
